We will discuss classical books from the Latin and Ancient Greek literary
traditions. The first book we will discuss is the Defence of Socrates,
or better, but less accurately, known as the Apology of Socrates. The
Defence of Socrates marks the birth of the Western tradition of
philosophy, and is a fantastic short book well worth reading in any
case. We will discuss this book led by our Latin and Ancient Greek
instructor, who will discuss the cultural and historical context of this
famous trial of Socrates.
Book cost is $20, the sessions are free of charge.
