A short introduction summarizes information on breeding seasons, migration and other aspects of biology, and explains the use of scientific names. In the remainder of the book over a hundred species are briefly described, with notes on nesting habits, and eighty are illustrated in colour.

About the author:

M. W. F. Tweedie is a well-known authority on Malayan natural history and zoology. As curator, and later director, of the Raffles Museum at Singapore, he spent over twenty years in Malaya and has collected and observed animal life in all parts of the country.
