The memoir of Thio Chan Bee (1904-1978), the first Asian principal of ACS, who also had a role to play in the setting up of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Polytechnic. He was also a politician in from 1948-68, and was part of various political parties including the Singapore Progressive Party, the Liberal Socialist Party, and Lim Yew Hock’s Singapore People’s Alliance (SPA). He later retired in Malaysia. This memoir was published in 1977, a year before his death.
