About the book (from dust jacket):

Correspondent Joseph R. Starobin went to Indo-China to see at first hand what was happening on the Viet Minh side. He is the only American newspaperman to have visited this area since the war began and to have interviewed Ho Chi Minh, the legendary leader of the Viet-Minh. By train, truck, jeep, bicycle, horseback and on foot, the author journeyed from Peking to the wild border country of Viet-Nam, and from that remote border to the hear and center of the people’s republic.

Mr. Starobin, himself an American Marxist, gives here the Marxist view of the realities of the war.
