Written by an educator who would later become Principal of Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid (where Tunku Abdul Rahman and other notables studied), History of Malaya is a textbook that happens to also be one of the best introductions to the subject ever written. Clear and concise, Jessy not only manages to describe important events and people, but also the nuances of each. Enough time is devoted to each subject – for example, the founding of Singapore, the Chinese Protectorates in Singapore and the rest of the Straits Settlements, the Singapore Sepoy Mutiny, the rebellion in Pahang, and so on. With 60 illustrations (many photographic), 21 in-text maps and 10 tables.
