It also contains numerous reprints of early editions of important newspapers, such as facsimiles of inaugural issues of the Chinese Daily Journal of Commerce (1923), Sin Chew Jit Poh (1929), Lianhe Wanbao and others. A brief overview of the history of each newspaper is given, along with important issues and events.

Excerpt:

(14/4/1925) Singapore Chinese community’s memorial service for Sun Yat-sen

Sun Yat-sen passed away on March 12. Overseas Chinese mourned his death. The Chinese organisations in Singapore held a memorial service for him. Over 100,000 people attended the service. This was the largest gathering in the history of Singapore. On that day, Chinese organisations and shops in Singapore flew their flags at half-mast as a sign of mourning.
