In this first volume, a general overview of the layout of Paris is provided, along with episodes in French history. Much of the book is dedicated to the Revolution of 1789 (the French Revolution), with other chapters on the Massacre of St Bartholomew, Place Louise XV (Place de la Concorde), the various sieges, and concluding with The National Guard.
