From dust jacket:

Soldier Surgeon in Malaya is a racy and realistic records of the work done by the 2/4th Casualty Clearing Station of the 8th Division in Malaya and Singapore in 1941042. Hamilton wrote the diary in secret within the confines of Japanese prisoner-of-war camps at Changi in Singapore and at various points along the Burma-Thailand railway.

During a searching campaign in the camps in 1943, Dr Hamilton consigned the war diary to the care of a dental surgeon; he, in turn, committed it to the sanctuary of a compatriot’s grave in Burma. It was there, many years later and after the war, that the mildewed pages were unearthed and returned to their author.
