From dust jacket:

This book chiefly concerns the different people who, at one time or another, have come to Malaya and made it their home – why they have come and what they do. In Malaya itself half the population is Malay, followed fairly closely by the Chinese, and some 12%, are Indians. Singapore’s population, on the other hand, is predominantly Chinese. Mrs. Moore describes from first-hand knowledge how these people live, and tells of their country, its climate, its crops, its trade and industries, and its scenery. The book is illustrated with 18 photographs, and there is an appendix of useful information and figures.
